1. Avoid white carbs- I learned that even some brown carbs were actually once white then turned brown to get you to buy them! ewww. Slimy ass marketing.
2. Eat the same few meals over and over. We already do this but don't like to admit it. The problem isn't that I am eating the same thing over and over. The problem is that I am not eating the same meal over and over that I really want.
3. Don't drink calories. This isn't too difficult for me. While we are talking about drinking, I have also taken out coffee and dairy- the arthritisis in my hands has gone down considerably- only since Monday! *side note- aspartame can induce weight gain so no diet soda. And you thought that you were being good with the diet cola.
4. Take one day a week- go nuts. You get to eat anything that you want this day. That's right- anything. For me, I have chosen Sunday for this. Of course, since I have declared that, my social invites have gone up for cocktails, dinners, desserts, etc. That damn Murphy and his damn law! So I have been keeping a list of foods that I have been craving and will evaluate if I really want them on Sunday. It also creates a caloric spike which is good for the body- it confuses the hell out of it.
And thank God that tomorrow is Sunday! Paying attention to not only what I crave but what is going on when I crave them. I have also become aware of my real deal addiction to carbs. It sucks, it's hard, and it is not something that I think any of us actually want to admit. Take a test to see if you are addicted to carbs- take them out of your diet for just three days and watch your reaction to not being able to have them. *note- tell your loved ones what you are doing so they don't think that you have become a dick for no reason.
