And then I looked up the definition of decadence and, at first glance, I found that what I was doing did not meet the definition- that I had been using the word inaccurately.
1. the act or process of falling into an inferior condition or state; deterioration; decay: Some historians hold that the fall of Rome can be attributed to internal decadence.
2. moral degeneration or decay; turpitude.
3. unrestrained or excessive self-indulgence.
Of course, this led to even more inquiry. Definition #1 is where I currently am in ways of my weight and health- got it. Definition #2, well some think that my morals are quite high and others think that my morals are non-existant because I don't follow a traditional path- I threw that definition out. And looking at definition #3- unrestrained or excessive self-indulgence. Hmmm...if you are passionate about something maybe this isn't an undesired thing. Take love, or any flavor of it- wouldn't you want to be unrestrained in it and your expression of it? So after a deeper inquiry of self-indulgence and the subjectivity of excessive and unrestrained over a glass of red, I am perfectly fine using decadent and decadence.
Now I have this distinguished: if I do not have the rich, juicy, saucy, delicious experiences in life that I desire, then I have an inclination to find it in the foods that I eat.
I am declaring that my mantra will be to live a deliciously saucy life- not necessarily eat it!
On to the results of the week...
This past week was great. I did not put myself through crazy workouts. I did not restrict my diet to freak it out. Instead, I simply added green smoothies and got my ass up away from my desk a bit more than usual.
On Monday I will be taking on the first of the two week trials: Tim Ferris' slow carb diet in his 4 Hour Body. It is a very interesting book whether you want to drop weight or add muscle. The human body amazing the hell out of me and he hacks (think like geek hacking and not an ax) it like no manana!
I will post what the diet looks like and more info on it on Monday. Weigh in will be on Fridays so the first one will be a little less that one week but will still be great for getting data.
